Description

This unique watch and the inside of its case have been made from the oak parquet removed from the assembly hall floor of the University of Tartu’s main building in 2022. A symbol of the city of Tartu, the main building of the University of Tartu is a Neoclassical masterpiece. Its assembly hall extends through two floors and features one of Estonia’s most valuable Empire-style interiors. The parquet flooring was installed in the assembly hall after a tragic fire in the main building in 1965. Over half a century, tens of thousands of students have received their diplomas, hundreds of professors have been inaugurated, a dozen rectors have been elected, and many other events and anniversaries of the university have been celebrated on this precious floor. The oakwood on your wrist has borne the footsteps of famous guests: the royal couple of Sweden, the Dalai Lama, Umberto Eco, the current King Charles III of the United Kingdom, the current King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, as well as presidents, prime ministers and many other important guests. This exceptional material has captured the times of several generations: the time of sorrow and joy, the time of wisdom and hope. The time of the university.
